HUMAN Impact Projects
HUMAN Impact Projects is a new initiative designed to enable academic research institutions and early-stage machine learning startups to scale and monetize their services.
HUMAN Protocol offers these projects access to high quality, low cost data annotation provided by a vast pool of diverse respondents. In this, HUMAN Protocol offers projects the opportunity to become profitable enterprises themselves. As a consequence, this initiative can enable ML projects to create more powerful and useful products, make new discoveries and, ultimately, fulfil their potential.
We have begun working with the following list of outstanding partners.
CVAT, which we have written about previously, is a popular open-source tool used by hundreds of companies and tens of thousands of users. It is used for video and image annotation, and includes semi-automated features to increase the speed of the annotation process. The core team of CVAT previously worked at Intel, and recently joined OpenCV.ai to expand development. The new GitHub repository demonstrates their current work, while the original repository for CVAT on GitHub has 7.6K stars!
Audino is an open-source (GitHub) audio tagging service being used to create a chatbot that can effectively translate between many currently unrepresented Indian languages. The National Health Mission of India will employ the chatbot to help their Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA’s) to translate between rural communities and the larger healthcare system.
This is not a sudden change in tune, but rather the fulfillment of our original vision. Twenty months ago, we published a blog post on just this topic: the ability for HUMAN Protocol to allow equitable access to data-labeling services, which have traditionally been siloed. Now, we are delighted to say that our vision is becoming a reality. The impact projects initiative – and the partners we are working with – are a validation of what HUMAN Protocol can offer to the next generation of machine learning researchers.
