HUMAN Protocol to launch new Reputation Oracles powered by Chainlink
Chainlink’s decentralized oracle network will replace HUMAN Protocol’s existing oracle architecture to enable a more flexible and robust cross-chain deployment.
We are excited to announce that the HUMAN Protocol Foundation — the team behind the world’s most used blockchain technology — will be using market-leading oracle network Chainlink to launch decentralized Reputation Oracles for HUMAN Protocol. These Chainlink-powered Reputation Oracles will enable the autonomous distribution of tasks and payments for HUMAN-powered work pools across the Ethereum, Polkadot, and Solana blockchains. Additionally, we plan to use Chainlink Price Feeds for payment exchange rates, as well as develop a Chainlink-powered oracle solution called Proof-of-Humanity to prevent bots from participating in certain on-chain functions.
HUMAN Protocol is an open-source, blockchain-based protocol engineered to allow humans and machines to trade all kinds of labor on an open, automated marketplace. It allows work requesters to launch new tasks across decentralized work pools, with pre-funded bounties for successful completion of those tasks. HUMAN Protocol exchanges pick up these jobs, manage the bidding on job types, and direct tasks toward HUMAN labor pools and workers.
Within this architecture, HUMAN’s Reputation Oracles oversee the full job and have access to the comprehensive dataset from a Requester. Reputation Oracles make the final evaluation of answer quality and accordingly attribute a reputation score to a worker, triggering the release of bounties directly to the labor pool or worker.
Because Chainlink was not available upon initial launch, HUMAN Protocol had set out to build its own Reputation Oracle solution. However, after extensive research, we identified Chainlink as a highly flexible and provably secure framework to support our oracle integration, saving us considerable time and resources. We plan to leverage Chainlink in multiple ways, including building our own Reputation Oracles to validate completed jobs submitted by workers, creating a Proof-of-Humanity oracle service to prevent bot participation in on-chain activities, and integrating Chainlink’s large collection of existing Price Feeds to enable more payment options on HUMAN Protocol. Interestingly, we are working on a Proof-of-Humanity oracles service built directly into any blockchain wallet. Essentially the user must complete a captcha, which is then relayed on-chain by the oracle. This can be used in situations like on-chain governance where each vote must be validated via a captcha before being accepted.
“When we first launched HUMAN Protocol, we developed our own reputational oracles for managing the processes that automate task distribution and completion because Chainlink didn’t yet exist,” said Alex Newman, Tech Lead at the HUMAN Protocol Foundation. “Now, with the ability to lean into Chainlink for creating decentralized and modular oracles, we believe it is a strategic and necessary step toward bringing a full-scale distributed human review system on-chain.”
