Wormhole governance proposal: Routing Protocol & xChain
The very first HUMAN Protocol governance vote is live today, 1st of Nov 00:00 am UTC, until the 3rd of Nov 00:00 am UTC. Head over to our Discord server to cast your vote.
This is a landmark moment in our process of decentralizing important Protocol decisions to you, the HUMAN Protocol community.
Wormhole has submitted the very first proposal: to build the proposed HUMAN Routing Protocol, and to add Wormhole integration to make the Routing Protocol xChain. This will enable cross-chain HMT access and cross-chain governance voting.
The Routing Protocol is a blockchain coordination layer that is designed to sit on top of the core HUMAN Protocol. The RP is a layer that sets up the framework for determining how third parties contributing to the network can interact, stake, slash, govern, and receive rewards. Learn more in the Routing Protocol paper.
Wormhole is a leading cross-chain interoperability protocol. It allows for the easy cross-chain interoperability of assets, apps, and data. With one integration, the HUMAN Routing Protocol can access any of the 19 heterogeneous blockchains that are operating on Wormhole.
For a full overview of the proposal, see Wormhole’s blog post. In essence, the proposal is to build the Routing Protocol and to integrate Wormhole.
The importance of this proposal is that it will enable cross-chain access to HMT, and facilitate governance participation from multiple chains.
The Routing Protocol can use the Wormhole SDK to enable users to bridge HMT from Ethereum to any of the 19 chains connected to Wormhole.
The Routing Protocol could integrate directly with the Token Bridge contracts to enable HMT bridging at the smart contract level.
This would enable users to vote from any chain that the Routing Protocol supports.
As we have written in the RP Paper, community voting on the Routing Protocol will be step-by-step. The first step will see the Metahuman team and advisory board submit proposals off-chain to the Magistrate, and the second stage allows the community to submit their own proposals on-chain.
The Wormhole integration covers both steps. All proposals would be submitted to Ethereum, the Governance Hub, while users can vote from this Hub or from any integrated chain, which act as Governance Spokes.
