Newconomics 2023 - Meet our Speakers: Jason Fox

2 min read

Newconomics in Lisbon is offering a wide range of views for leaders and business people to consider when it comes to Web3 technology and future economics. Sometimes the best ideas come from places you won’t expect and this is why we will be having an inspiring presentation from Jason Fox, Broadcaster, best-selling author and former UK Special Forces soldier and Royal Marine commando. He shared his thoughts on leadership and the unknown with us ahead of the event.

Facing the Fear of the Unknown: Lessons from a Commando for the Web3 Space

Web3 is nothing like being an elite soldier, I can say that up front to ease any concerns. But when it comes to leadership and communication, you’d be surprised to find out how much the two can connect and what you can learn along the way.

Many business leaders might be avoiding blockchain and Web3 tech because it looks hard to learn, difficult to turn into actions and even more difficult to communicate. When you’re stuck with an unknown, it can generate fear and make you freeze when you could be making some great decisions. Leaders can often feel isolated in charge, which doesn’t help anyone.

Web3 is interesting because it’s still a frontier and with any unknown territory, you want to be leaning on your teams and your community for help. As I understand it, the Web3 community is really strong, creative, and innovative. You can help each other learn, grow and create really exciting new businesses and economies.

These decentralised ways of working mean that anyone can have a good idea and share that knowledge - this is as important in a combat situation as it is in the business world. I’m not a blockchain expert, but what I do know is that if everyone working on these projects gets a fair say and if you can communicate your ideas clearly, you will only get stronger.”

Find out more about the new economics of Web3 and how it can change the way we work together at the Newconomics event in Lisbon. Full details and registration can be found on the website.
